We want your child to feel happy and safe at the family centre. To make sure that this is the case, the staff will work with you to decide on how to help your child to settle into the family centre.
To enable this to happen we suggest the following:
Take advantage of a home visit from a staff member to allow your child to meet their keyworker in a more familiar environment.
Visit the family centre with your child before they start to familiarise them with the play areas, staff and routines.
Be prepared to stay with your child on the first day / session and for as many sessions as necessary until s/he is settled
Talk about what they will be doing in the family centre and what they have been doing.
Let your child wear clothes suitable for play. We provide protective clothing for messy activities. We ask you to provide suitable clothing for indoor and outdoor play to include coats and wellies. Spare clothing should be provided in case of an accident i.e. wetting or child getting messy.
Provide nappies, wet wipes etc as appropriate.
Welcome home painting and creative works of art that your child may produce (note this may not be a regular occurrence).
